WWE '13: 5 Cover Ideas That Would Make This Game Even More Awesome
I haven't had a chance to browse the web like I usually do; sometimes life gets in the way of good ol' net surfing. So I haven't heard much news on the new WWE '13 game.
But I have seen some pretty cool fan made cover art for it. And since I am what some would call a graphic artist, I decided to make a few of my own.
But along with the covers, I thought I would share some ideas that I think should come along with the game.
Some of these won't come true, some of these can't come true. But like the fan I am of WWE and WWE video games, it's always fun to imagine anyway.
So here our my fan created covers. And for the fan boys, I used the PS3 banner for no other reason than it fit better with the layouts.
WWE with a Good Helping of WCW
With the implementation of a lot of WCW rings, attires, presentations, stories and characters being put into WWE '12 last year, I figure it's time for a WWE game to go all out and stack the deck with WCW content.
Put all of our favorite WCW characters in the game, from Hollywood Hulk Hogan, to Bill Goldberg, to Ric Flair, to the Icon Sting.
It would be a cool way live out some of the matches that we never got to see (and create the ones The Invasion angle failed to deliver on). It would let us finally see that Sting vs. Undertaker match at WrestleMania we've been yearning for, too.
Whatever THQ decides to do, please, just give us the option for WCW characters to carry the big gold belt.
How About a Diva Get Some Face Time?
This would never happen, but wouldn't it be cool if the WWE put a Diva on the cover of one of their games?
I think it would be pretty awesome to have a game that featured one, or at least gave you the ability to take a current WWE Diva and put her up against the likes of Trish Stratus, Molly Holly, Lita, Sable and all the other past WWE Divas you can think of.
Surely, the WWE would have The King doing voice work and screaming out "puppies!" for our adolescent pleasure.
The Past Versus the Present
Taking a cue from NCAA Football 2013, WWE would be wise to show some respect to the past, while showing props to the future.
Putting a WWE Superstar like Shawn Michaels on the cover would add instant fandom to this WWE release, while putting one with Dolph Ziggler on the front would also boost his visibility and star power.
This cover sets the stage to have past legends face off against their present day counterparts.
Imagine a game mode that lets you pick from several WWE Superstars, set out at the beginning of a calendar year and complete objectives while moving you toward an epic showdown against your Superstar equal.
CM Punk vs. "The Macho Man" Randy Savage
Randy Orton vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin
The Big Show vs. Andre The Giant
"The Show Off" Dolph Ziggler vs. "The Show Stopper" Shawn Michaels
John Cena vs Hulk Hogan
The possibilities are endless when "Decades Collide."
Book it, WWE.
It could be Rock vs. Cena all over, but in digital video game goodness. Plus, it would be a cool game mode. This series has been in need of a good story mode for a while now anyway.
WWE Gets Attitudinal
Word is that WWE '13 will have an influx of "Attitude Era" superstars included this time around.
This would be perfect to set the stage for a game themed around just that. But you can't have a game based around the Attitude Era without featuring The Rattlesnake, better known as Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Ever since NBA 2K11 predominately featured Michael Jordan and his defining career moments in their basketball game, I thought this concept would be great for a wrestling game.
Take a wrestler like Stone Cold, put him in a career mode. Let him face off against all of his biggest rivals, in the biggest venues he's ever wrestled, while in the midst of the biggest moments he has ever had.
Have him roll to the ring in a beer truck, torment Vince McMahon with a toy gun, shatter the glass as he comes out to face Bret Hart, fight with Mike Tyson during his Raw debut and go on to defeat Shawn Michaels at Mania.
It would be epic.
And as he completes all of those accomplishments, make them unlockable along the way.
If you think that sounds awesome, give me a Hell Yeah!
Here Comes the Pain
The timing couldn't be any more perfect.
Brock is back. He is here for one year to wreck havoc on the WWE.
THQ, you have a new game coming out in a few months. Do what many of us have wanted you to do for a long time... and bring back the pain.
What most would call the greatest WWE video game of all time, HCTP has been deemed a classic. With the chance to get Brock back on a WWE game cover and in a game one last time, what would be cooler than to have a remake of HCTP on a next gen?
With probably the deepest story mode from a wrestling game, if you pair that with the great visuals and game play of WWE '12, it probably would go on to be as unstoppable as Brock Lesnar himself.
So in a lot of ways, if THQ could muster up the courage to do so, this could be the next big thing in wrestling video games to date.
Well, that is all I have. It was fun creating these. Let me know what you think.
And please share your cover, game mode and feature ideas below in the comments.
