Red Bull's Scott Speed Gets Engaged to Amanda Mathis

This story dates back to November, after the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Red Bull Racing's Scott Speed, usually has no problems with speaking his mind, but I guess when your proposing marriage it can leave even the best talkers speechless fumbling for words.

After Ford Championship weekend the couple returned home to her house, Speed knew he wanted to propose, even knew the answer, but had a hard time getting the words out.

While the couple sat on the couch, Speed fumbled for words for close to 45 minutes to propose. Amanda would finally get up to announce she was going to bed, when Speed got down on a knee and proposed.

"It was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be," he said. "I already knew the answer, but to physically to do it, I can honestly say it was a thousand times harder than it would seem."

Many were surprised that it was a private proposal, since the speed demon is such a flashily character, people believed that a public affair like on pit road, would seem more suitable.

Congratulations too both Scott "Speed demon" Speed and Amanda Mathis on your engagement, she's quite the looker.
