20 Sports Hotties & Their Movie Star Dopplegangers

It's an unfortunate fact of life that most of us will never have our life story turned into a major motion picture. Even the vast majority of superstar professional athletes don't get their own movies, so there's almost no hope for us commoners. 

But that doesn't mean we can't speculate about who would play them (or even us) in the unlikely event that some sucker green lights the project. I've spitballed some movie ideas and made tentative casting decisions for the life stories of some of your favorite sports hotties. 

Now let's take a look at what the movies of 20 sports hotties could look like if someone wants to hire me to make it happen. 

20) Maria Sharapova—Kristen Bell

Movie Title: From Russia, With Love 

Plot: Actress Kristen Bell of Veronica Mars and Forgetting Sarah Marshall stars as Russian tennis sensation Maria Sharapova. The film follows Sharapova through her early years in tennis—through her meteoric rise in the game and gaining world-wide attention as one of sports most recognizable sex symbols. 

19) Maria Kanellis—Emma Stone

Movie Title: Born a Diva 

Plot: Actress Emma Stone of Superbad and (soon to be) Spiderman fame, stars as sultry WWE Diva Maria Kanellis. The story follows Kanellis through her fiery start in the Raw Diva Search in 2004 and gives a rarely seen glimpse of what it's like for women in the WWE Universe behind the scenes.

18) Natalie Coughlin—Jennifer Garner

Movie Title: What Next?

Plot: Actress Jennifer Garner of Alias and wife of Ben Affleck stars as Natalie Coughlin, one of the winningest female swimmers in history. Coughlin has competed in every summer Olympics since 2004 and after London 2012 she struggles to figure out what her life will be after professional swimming. 

17) Lani Doherty—Elisha Cuthbert

Movie Title: Surfing 'til Sunset  

Plot: Actress Elisha Cuthbert of 24 and "sloppy seconds" stars as stunning surfer Lani Doherty. The story follows Doherty from early childhood in Hawaii, the daughter of two surfers—she has been surfing since she could walk, through her early 20s when she earns a spot on the USA Surf Team. 

16) Sasha Cohen—Christina Ricci

Movie Title: On Thin Ice

Plot: Actress Christina Ricci, of The Adams Family and Monster fame, stars as American Olympic figure skater Sasha Cohen. The story follows Cohen in the year leading up to the 2006 Olympics where she was favored to win the gold, but a fall in her long program dropped her from first to fourth place, ultimately knocking her out of medal contention. 

15) Beatriz Recari—Eliza Dushku

Movie Title: Fore! 

Plot: Actress Eliza Dushku, of Bring it On and Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame, plays Spanish golfer Beatriz Recari. The story follows Recari through her very successful amateur career and her transition to the professional game. After a strong start, winning her first pro tournament, she struggles to repeat the performance. 

14) Kim Glass—Gabrielle Union

Movie Title: Serves You Right (Volleyball pun...I don't know what that means...) 

Plot: Actress Gabrielle Union, of Bring it On and dating Dwyane Wade fame, stars as Kim Glass, a wanna be model-turned jock who earns a place on the silver medal winning American Olympic volleyball team. The story follows Glass from college, where she missed the cut for America's Next Top Model five times, to her professional volleyball career in Azerbaijan and later modeling success. 

13) Bruna Schmitz—AnnaSophia Robb

Movie Title: Fun, Sun, Surf

Plot: Actress AnnaSophia Robb of Soul Surfer plays globetrotting surfing stunner Bruna Schmitz. The story follows Schmitz and her gang of equally stunning friends as they travel the globe for surfing competitions and enjoy the nightlife along the way. 

12) Ana Ivanovic—Evangeline Lilly

Movie Title: 30-Love  

Plot: Actress Evangeline Lilly, of Lost and The Hurt Locker fame, stars as Serbian tennis sensation Ana Ivanovic. The film follows Ivanovic from her early success, having achieved the No. 1 ranking at age 18, as she struggles to get back to that point. It also chronicles her romance with with Australian golfer Adam Scott through their numerous breakups and makeups. 

11) Hope Solo—Jennifer Carpenter

Plot: Actress Jennifer Carpenter, of Dexter fame, stars as superstar goalie Hope Solo. The story follows Solo through the highs (Olympic gold) and lows (losing in the FIFA World Cup Finals) of international competition and along her meteoric rise to fame after appearing on Dancing with the Stars and in ESPN: The Magazine's annual Body Issue. 

10) Natalie Gulbis—Brittany Snow

Plot: Actress Brittany Snow, of Prom Night and Hairspray fame, stars as gorgeous golfer Natalie Gulbis. The story follows Gulbis, one of golf's only sex symbols, as she tries to balance being a serious athlete and an object of desire. 

9) Rachelle Leah—Kate Beckinsale

Movie Title: Modeling and MMA

Plot: Actress Kate Beckinsale, of Underworld and Van Helsing fame, stars as Rachelle Leah, one of the most recognizable women in MMA. Leah got her start as a model at the age of 18 and within a year was hired by the UFC as an octagon girl. The story follows her as she navigates the world of MMA and forges a successful career as a model, host and television personality. 

8) Leryn Franco—Selena Gomez

Movie Title: Olympic Distraction  

Plot: Actress Selena Gomez, of Disney Princess fame, stars as Leryn Franco, the Paraguayan javelin thrower who became a world-wide Internet sensation after being spotted at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. The story follows Franco, a beauty queen turned fashion model turned athlete as she juggles her modeling career and training for the 2012 Olympics in London—while also offering a rare glimpse into her private life.  

7) Lindsey Vonn—Diane Kruger

Movie Title: Raising Hell: On and Off the Slopes 

Plot: Actress Diane Kruger, of Inglorious Basterds and National Treasure: Book of Secrets fame, plays alpine skiing sensation Lindsey Vonn. Her success on the slopes is well known, but the story follows Vonn's life off the slopes—her supposed feud with rival Julia Mancuso, her controversial comments about Tiger Woods and her risque appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and ESPN: The Magazine. Not to mention her "close" relationship with the Tebow brothers. 

6) Roberta Mancino—Angelina Jolie

Movie Title: Dangerously Beautiful  

Plot: Actress Angelina Jolie, of baby collecting fame, stars as Italian skydiver, BASE jumper and general adrenaline junky Roberta Mancino. The story follows Mancino from her early modeling career and her foray into the world of extreme sports. Mancino lives on the edge and has had countless near-misses over the years—get a look into what makes a woman run towards what most of us would flee from.  

5) Alana Blanchard—Hayden Panettiere

Movie Title: North Shore  

Plot: Actress Hayden Panettiere, of wearing bikinis fame, stars as Alana Blanchard, one of the sexiest and most successful female surfers in the world. The story follows Blanchard life in picturesque Hawaii, where she lives when she's not traveling for international competition, and offers a look into the surf culture of the islands.

4) Lolo Jones—Rashida Jones

Movie Title: Leaps and Bounds 

Plot: Actress Rashida Jones, of The Office and I Love You, Man fame, stars as Olympic hurdler Lolo Jones. The story follows Jones from her exceptionally disappointing performance at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, where she was favored to win gold, as she trains for a chance at redemption at the 2012 Olympics in London. 

3) Danica Patrick—Sophia Bush

Movie Title: Go Daddy. Go Danica.  

Plot: Actress Sophia Bush, of One Tree Hill and John Tucker Must Die fame, stars as Danica Patrick, the most famous female race car driver in the world. The story follows Patrick's rapid rise to fame on the IndyCar circuit and her emergence as one of the greatest sex symbols in sports. Behind the scenes, she struggles with what many perceive as a lack of success and questions about her legitimacy in the sport. 

2) Michelle Beadle—Anna Faris

Movie Title: Battle for Bristol

Plot: Actress Anna Faris, of Scary Movie and The House Bunny fame, stars as ESPN's Michelle Beadle. The story follows Beadle, a ball-busting "guy's girl," from her start at ESPN and explores the well-reported tensions between her and Erin Andrews. Both of their contracts expire in 2012 and it's very likely that the network will only be able to retain one of them—who stays?

Both of their contracts expire in 2012 and it's very likely that the network will only be able to retain one of them—who stays?
