Since it is close to midseason in college basketball, it is time to start thinking about who will win player of the year. Being a fan of Big East basketball, I decided to calculate the top five candidates for the award this year.
To do so, I used stats through the first month of only Big East games to compile a contribution score. The contribution score was calculated with the following equation:
I included team wins and losses because I believe that the team winning should play a factor in deciding player of the year.
I apologize for the unorganization of the stats, but bleacherreports.com does not have a table function. I also included notables on the verge of being considered with their contribution average, and others in the league as well. Enjoy!
