Packers News: Brett Favre Decides to Hang' Em Up

Arguably the greatest quarterback in NFL history is deciding to call it quits.

According to sources Brett Favre has chosen to retire, and it's also believed that he informed the team within the last few days.  There's no word yet when the team will make the official announcement.

Favre spent his entire career, 17 years, with the Green Bay Packers and brought the storied franchise back to glory by winning Super Bowl XXXI against the New England Patriots.

Favre leaves the game as the all-time record holder in several categories, including wins, passing yards, touchdowns, and consecutive games started.  A three-time MVP, he won fans over with his carefree style and go-for-broke attitude.

This year he played like a kid again and led the Packers to the NFC Championship game after passing for 4,155 yards—the most he's had since 1998.  He threw 28 TDs, including an overtime Hail Mary pass to beat Denver.

He also had a 95.7 quarterback rating, his highest since 1996.

Barring a change of heart and a return for an 18th season, the only three-time AP MVP will leave the game as possibly the greatest QB in history.

However, this is Favre. We never know what he's liable to decide tomorrow.
