WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin is going to become the host of an upcoming CMT reality game show called Redneck Island.

In a press release from CMT posted today on TV by the Numbers, Austin agreed to a developmental deal with CMT on the new 10-episode reality series, which will debut in June.

The premise for Redneck Island will involve taking 12 residents from the Southern United States and leaving them on a tropical island, where they will compete as teams to win $100,000 in a number of "hilarious mental and physical challenges designed to celebrate the group's strengths and limitations." One team member will then be voted off at the end of each episode.

As part of the developmental deal, Austin will also be allowed the opportunity to host other reality shows on CMT with his production company, Broken Skull Ranch Productions.

Austin gave his thoughts on the opportunity in the press release, stating:

I am thrilled to join the CMT family and for the opportunity to work with them on future projects. I’m also excited to work with the great folks at 51 Minds Entertainment on REDNECK ISLAND.  If there’s one thing I know, it’s how to keep a bunch of rednecks in line.  And that’s the bottom line!

How do you folks feel about Steve Austin playing reality TV show host?
