Brett Favre Retires!

Warren SicilianoCorrespondent IMarch 4, 2008

NFL Insider Jay Glaser at Fox Sports is now reporting that Brett Favre, Green Bay Packers’ superstar quarterback, is finally retiring.

Apparently, the team has been aware of this news for several days now.  It was unclear, however, if they planned to go public with the information—possibly delaying in case Favre changed his mind.

If the news is true, it means that one of the most popular players in the history of the game has chosen to leave it.

Favre is one of those players everyone likes, Green Bay fan or not. He transcended the usual borders between fans of certain players or teams.  It is safe to say that everybody who loves football, loves this guy.

He brought that blue-collar, gun-slinger win-at-all-costs mentality to the game.  Plus, he was fun to watch on the field and on the sidelines, too.  It always seemed like he had a whole lot of fun playing.

This will be a huge loss to NFL fans around the world who park in front of their televisions or in the stadium seats every Sunday to watch the game.  We will certainly miss Brett Favre, but we also wish him the best in whatever he decides to do next.

Thanks, Brett, for all of the memories.
