Auburn has one of the more interesting quarterback battles in the country, as three players have an equal opportunity to land the job (Kiehl Frazier, Clint Moseley and true-freshman Zeke Pike). Head Coach Gene Chizik says that he'd like to name the starter sooner rather than later, but he needs to see a few things before making his decision. (Via al.com)
Playing in this league, you've got to have thick skin. You can't be listening to everybody's opinion out there: 'Who says you're what, who says you ought to do what.' He's going to have a bad day. When he does that, how does he respond to that? That's going to be a huge, huge indicator on how he's going to be able to weather some of the storms that quarterbacks have to go through in this league.
He also says that protecting the football is very important as well. The Tigers were ranked sixth in the SEC last season with 21 turnovers, including 11 interceptions thrown.
"If we don't do that, our chances of winning are probably cut in half," Chizik said. "He also has to be a productive guy."
This battle should be interesting as we inch closer to the regular season showdown against the Clemson Tigers.
