For all the obvious, readily mentioned favorites at the 2012 Kentucky Derby—Union Rags, Bodemeister and Gemologist to name a few—there are also those horses talented enough to have fans up out of their seats in shock come race time.

Whether it is the talent of I'll Have Another or the outright-quick Creative Cause, there are several horses which could burst onto the scene and come close to winning a title in 2012.

These are the three more underrated horses set to make their performance felt Saturday at Churchill Downs.

Creative Cause

Odds: 12/1

Kentucky Derby Power Rank: 2

Although given a power ranking of two on KentuckyDerby.com, there is no question that Creative Cause is one of the more overlooked horses in the field.

Creative Cause comes into the Derby fresh off of two solid performances, placing first in the San Felipe at Santa Anita Park and second at the Santa Anita Derby in April.  Creative Cause fell just short in this one, losing to I'll Have Another in the Santa Anita Derby race.

Expect big things from this horse on Saturday at Churchill Downs.

Odds: 11/1

Kentucky Derby Power Rank: 5

Hansen is a horse that of the three listed, may well boast the greatest burst of speed of any of them.

Hansen has won two of its last four races, with wins coming in the Gotham and Breeders' Cup Juvenile races.

The Breeders' Cup Juvenile win came at Churchill Downs as well, as this may well work into his favor when it's all said and done.

I'll Have Another

Odds: 11/1

Kentucky Derby Power Rank: 3

This top-notch horse comes fresh off of a win at the Santa Anita Derby, topping Creative Cause it was an impressive win for the team.

What's more? I'll Have Another has won its last two races, also winning in February in the Robert B. Lewis race.

Trainer Doug O'Neill has a plethora of experience as a trainer, and it has shown in the tremendous performances of this horse. This is certainly a horse that can do big things. If there's one underdog that will shock the field, this is the one.
