What had been speculated since Carlos Marmol gave up three runs, blowing the Cubs lead in the Thursday’s game, became official Friday when manager Dale Sveum announced Marmol is out as the Cubs closer.
According to a report, the two met in Sveum’s office before Friday’s game and Marmol was “fine with it, he understood,” Sveum said.
