Why Jerry Reese Will Make a Boldin Move

These aren't your father's Giants, or should I say Jerry Reese isn't you father's Giants General manager.

With all due respect to George Young, architect of two Super Bowl winners and Ernie Accorsi, who was at the helm for a Super Bowl appearance and had his fingerprints all over last year's miracle run, Jerry Reese has shown time and again that he is a decisive, and when necessary, bold tactician.

He has shown the ability to use all the tools at his disposal to build a championship team that looks like they will be around for the long haul. In the past, the Giants weren't known as a team that kept up with the times.

Going back to Plan B free agency, the Giants always seemed to be a day late and a dollar short. The impression from the outside looking in was, be cautious, it prevents mistakes. While that may be true, it also prevented successes.

So what is different now? Jerry Reese. I know he hasn't gone after the top-tier free agents or had a blockbuster trade, but he makes moves to fill holes. Sometimes the best player for the job is a role player.

Kawika Mitchell was the perfect player for the job he was required to do for the Giants.  Fast-forward to Monday, Feb. 2. The Super Bowl is over and the moves start. I don't know if it will cost a first-round pick or a first and a second, but Reese will get Anquan Boldin.

He knows what the Giants need to make a run again and he won't let the opportunity slip by. Write it down today. Thursday, Jan. 29. Boldin will be wearing Giant blue opening day.
