Most World cup wins

Australia has won the Webb Ellis Trophy twice - in 1991 and 1999. The country's overall record for World Cups: 22 matches, 18 wins and four defeats with a total score of 642-302.

 

Highest match score

The highest World Cup score was when the All Blacks beat Japan 145-17 in South Africa on 4 June 1995.

 

Lowest match score

Australia defeated Western Samoa on 9 October 1991 9-3.

 

Least points scored in a World Cup match by a team

Over the last four World Cups three teams failed to put themselves on a score sheet.

In 1995 South Africa beat Canada 20-0 while the Ivory Coast were thrashed by Scotland 89-0. Four years later Scotland showed another solid performance, beating Spain 48-0.

New Zealand scored a record 21 tries in a win against Japan at South Africa on 4 June 1995. The All Blacks went to win 145-17.

New Zealand have scored 1,023 points in 24 matches in four World Cups.

Japan have conceded 602 points in 12 matches during the last four tournaments.
