NFL Combine Profile: Jeremy Maclin
The NFL Combine is only a few weeks away. The best future NFL prospects will be attending. They can really make their stock soar, or sink. So what will Missouri wide receiver Jeremy Maclin do at the combine?
Maclin's stock is pretty high right now, as Scouts, Inc. at ESPN has him in their top 10 overall players, so he can't really raise his stock too much. If he can run the fastest 40, which he certainly is capable of, then he should be able to stay in the top 15.
His stock could also fall.
If he runs a bad 40 for some reason, it could go down. He needs to run crisp routes and show good hands. If Maclin just goes out there and plays his game, he should be fine.
Maclin's strengths are his speed, strength, and hands. His speed is nearly unmatched and he is very strong. He has pretty good hands and he is extremely versatile, as he led the country in all-purpose yards.
His main weakness is route running. He is often criticized for not running crisp routes. Maclin needs to prove the scouts wrong on this.
What NFL team doesn't want an all-purpose player, such as Jeremy Maclin?
Every team can use one, and every GM, owner, and coach would love to have one. Maclin brings a running, receiving, and returning threat to every game. He can change any game in the blink of an eye with his blazing speed.
Although all teams would love to have Maclin, some teams have other needs to address. Therefore, I see him going seventh to the Raiders at the highest right now. If he absolutely tears up the combine, he could go fourth to the Seahawks, but Crabtree looks like the top receiver for now. If Oakland doesn't take him, he will definitely go in the top 25, likely the top 15.
