Pogge Needs Practice
Justin Pogge made an appearance last night in Minnesota at the Xcel Energy Centre as the Leafs took on the Wild. Pogge let six goals past his "watchful" eyes, most of which were an embarrassment to an already embarrassing Toronto Maple Leafs Stat record.
On many goals against Pogge he went down way to early making it difficult for him to move laterally. This gave the Wild a huge scoring advantage. He was also caught too far out of his net on a couple of those six goals.
Five out of the six goals were scored while playing five-on-five hockey. This is unusual for a team like the Wild to pull that off. They were ranked 30th in the National Hockey League for goals scored while playing five-on-five. After the game they jumped up to 26th position.
Not everything was Pogge's fault though. Nik Antropov had the most shots on goal, none of which found the back of the net. He has gone 15 games without scoring a goal. Someone like Antropov who is paid upwards of 2 million dollars should score a couple goals otherwise he should be traded for someone who can get the job done.
Toronto also had a lot of turn overs in the neutral zone and poor defence
After the game Pogge will return to the Marlies's until he is called up again. Pogge requires more experience at the NHL level as well as a boost in confidence, to give a better performance.
