Prior to Sunday’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view, the question on everyone’s mind was, who will win, Brock Lesnar or John Cena?
Now that Cena has defeated Lesnar, however, the question on everyone’s mind has become: What’s next for both of these guys?
Judging by Cena’s post-match promo at Extreme Rules, it looks like Cena is headed for some time off and could be out of action for quite a while, but that in turn leaves Lesnar without a feud.
Or does it?
It looks like the WWE actually already has Lesnar’s next feud in mind.
According to WrestleNewz.com:
A feud between Triple H and Brock Lesnar has at least been talked about in a recent WWE creative meeting at RAW.
Nothing is confirmed as far as Triple H returning to the ring this year but his status was described as, “if they really need him for ratings or buys, he will wrestle.”
The idea behind a Lesnar vs. HHH feud would be another big name for Lesnar to defeat as they build him back up over the next year.
This actually makes a ton of sense, especially after reading this WWE.com article that teases some potential tension between Triple H and Lesnar.
The idea behind this feud would obviously be that Lesnar returned to the WWE making all of these ridiculous demands, and given that Triple H is the COO of the company, he doesn’t want to just sit back while Lesnar tries to take over the company.
Of course, Triple H and Laurinaitis have a lot of history together, so the WWE could book an angle where Laurinaitis wants to give into Lesnar’s demands, but Triple H wants no part of it.
Naturally, this would then lead to Lesnar confronting Triple H and asking him “what he’s gonna do about it,” which would ultimately lead to Lesnar vs. Triple H, possibly as soon as at Over The Limit next month.
I’d have no problem with this because the Cena/Lesnar beef will be over or at least temporarily put on hold for the foreseeable future, and Lesnar is going to spend the entire duration of his one-year contract with WWE feuding with top baby faces.
If his next feud isn’t going to be against CM Punk, then why not have it against Triple H?
