College Basketball Jan. 28, 2009: Mitch Picks Georgia at Florida

Georgia (9-10) at Florida (17-3)

The Line: Florida -16

This historic and geographic rivalry had one of the worst beatings in its history on the college football field this year, and it's possible that if the Gators continue their sharp shooting, this one could be similar.

While the Gators football team puts up some basketball-like numbers, their basketball team is putting up some shooting percentages from the floor that really can't be compared to much, as they are out of the realm of normal. This past weekend I thought Florida was too young and inexperienced to go into Vandy and walk out with a win; it's doubtful after that show that I'll be making the same mistake again in the near future.

Georgia, on the other hand, is a bottom dweller in SEC play this season and has been marked as an automatic win for opponents as they look over their schedules. The Dawgs enter Gainesville sporting a six-game losing streak they'll be looking to end.

While Florida has been racking up wins, they are just 5-7-1 against the spread, while Georgia is 4-7-2 against the number. UGA is 6-2-2 against the spread in their last 10 road games, and Florida is just 1-5 against the spread in their last six at home. The road team is 13-5 against the spread in the last 18 games in this series, but Florida has covered in four of the last five meetings between these two.
