WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Results: CM Punk Punk Def. Chris Jericho to Retain WWE Championship
CM Punk started off hot as he brought in two chairs and a kendo stick and went to work on Chris Jericho. Jericho got the advantage when he poked CM Punk in the eyes and then struck Punk with a Kendo stick.
Jericho proceeded to take the offense to Punk as he assaulted Punk on the outside in front of his family, seated ringside.
Jericho taunted Punk's family, which lead to Jericho being slapped in the face by Punk's sister, who continued to receive significant camera time.
As Jericho attempted to retaliate, Punk made the save. Punk became enraged, taking both tables apart and body slamming Jericho through the front panel of the table.
Jericho dominated the brawl on the outside, but Punk got back into the match as the action returned to the ring. Punk attempted a springboard clothesline, however Jericho hit him with a cane and resumed his taunting of Punk.
Jericho spilled beer all over Punk, and as he attempted to do it for a second time, Punk made his comeback with help from the Kendo stick. Punk teased the GTS, buts Jericho fought out of it and tried for the Walls of Jericho, which was countered by Punk followed by a power slam for a nearfall.
Punk hit a flying elbow for a nearfall, and an ensuing GTS attempt was once again countered by a bulldog from Jericho.
Jericho countered the Asai Moonsault with yet another GTS attempt that was countered by Jericho as Jericho drove Punk headfirst into a metal chair lodged between the middle and top ropes and rolled him up for a two count.
Jericho followed up with a Codebreaker, and slapped on the Walls of Jericho. Jericho kept the hold locked on past the rope break as Punk grabbed a fire extinguisher from underneath the ring. Punk sprayed Jericho with the fire extinguisher, then hit him in the gut with it. Punk took the action to the outside as he kicked Jericho in the head, laying him out across the table.
Punk hit a flying elbow through the table, then threw Jericho back in the ring for a two count, but Jericho's kickout was countered by an Anaconda Vice by Punk. Jericho grabbed a Kendo stick and struck CM Punk with it several times.
Jericho then hit a Codebreaker on Punk with the chair for a nearfall. Jericho tried to finish off CM Punk with a GTS, but the move was countered by Punk as he catapulted Jericho into the corner that had an exposed turnbuckle. CM Punk followed up with a GTS for the win.
Winner: CM Punk
