Hopkins vs. Dawson Undercard: Shawn Porter Will Destroy Veteran Patrick Thompson

While most of the boxing world patiently waits for Bernard Hopkins and Chad Dawson, the undercard sets up nicely for some intriguing bouts.

There is one fight in particular that has really caught my eye, however.

Shawn "Showtime" Porter will use great speed and power to destroy veteran Patrick Thompson Saturday night in the undercard to remain undefeated.

Porter (18-0, 13 KOs) will be looking to pick up his 19th victory and 14th knockout when he tangles with the 39-year-old veteran from Nebraska.

Thompson (18-17-1, 8 KOs) comes into the welterweight bout as an underdog and rightfully so. It's not just that he's been average in his career, but it has plenty more to do with the guy he's fighting.

Porter is the real deal in the welterweight division. He is a former National Golden Gloves, NABF and NABO champion.

He is well-known for being Manny Pacquiao's sparring partner for his bout with Miguel Cotto.

Porter, with obvious training history from the best in the sport, will have a great opportunity to become the face of boxing in the future. At 24, his best days are ahead of him and his ceiling is extremely high.

He will prove that he is one of the best young boxers in the sport on Saturday night. He'll make Thompson look over-the-hill, slow and average.

Prediction: Shawn "Showtime" Porter wins fight via second-round knockout.
