When things don’t go as pundits predicted prior to the NFL draft, it can either destroy a franchise’s selection plan or offer up an unexpected opportunity.

With several trades executed in the first round of the 2012 NFL draft, surprises became the norm throughout the evening and a few teams landed players they probably didn’t think possible, setting up big-time steal situations.

Among Miller’s biggest steals in the first round was defensive tackle Michael Brockers, who went to the St. Louis Rams after the team traded with Dallas for the No. 14 pick.
