Will the Montreal Canadiens Have a Strong Second Half?

Charles L. GareCorrespondent IJanuary 27, 2009

As the Montreal Canadiens enter the second half of the season, will they continue their winning ways? The position of goalie is well cared for with Carey Price and Jarslov Halak doing a wonderful job.

There is still a need for strength up front and Vincent Lecavalier would be a nice addition as long as there is not too much given up to get him. The team also needs a power play quarter back and Mark Streit is sorely missed I feel.

The first half of the season ended with a 27-13-6 record if they continue on a good solid pace for the next 36 games they should have 100 point or better season. Guy Carbonneau and his fellow coaches have done a great job of motivating the Habs to play good solid hockey and I expect nothing different for the remainder of the season.

If Alex Kovalev, Alex Tanquay, Robert Lang, Mike Komisarek, Saku Koivu play anywhere near their potential the Habs will do fine, and if we can keep the injury bug away. I am waiting with baited breathe for the game tonight against the Lightning and hope it starts the second half with a win and that trend continues.

Go Habs Go!
