In many analytical circles, the Miami Heat are the favorites to win the NBA championship this year. They have two of the top five players in the league, and when they're firing on all cylinders, they can seem nearly unstoppable. They fizzled out in the Finals last year against a Mavericks team that was thought to be less talented overall, and they came into this lockout-shortened season with a lot to prove.
However hungry they are, an NBA Championship is not guaranteed. If they fail to win it all this year, there will surely be a lot of blame to go around, but much of it will be heaped on coach Erik Spoelstra. His first year saw him face tons of media scrutiny, and he is still feeling the pressure in 2012. However,
Spoelstra may not be to blame if the Heat flame out this year, and here's why:
