John Tavares is finally getting some of the national attention he deserves.

After the Round of 60, John Tavares is ranked 12th in the standings for EA Sports' NHL 13 video game cover vote.

Tavares' place in the standings is well deserved. He led the Islanders in points with 81 and was second in goals with 31, trailing only Matt Moulson's 36 goals. Tavares' 81 points ranked ninth in all of the NHL.

Even more than his stats, Tavares was the leader of this team during the 2011-12 season and will likely become the captain if Mark Streit leaves after this season.

Tavares, the 2009 first overall pick, finds himself in a head-to-head matchup with Jordan Eberle in the first round of the Round of 16. Tavares is listed as the underdog as Eberle is the four-seed and Tavares the five.

Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane sported the previous covers for the highest-selling hockey video game.
