Greg Schiano loves irony.

With the 31st pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Doug Martin out of Boise State.

Instant Reaction: LeGarrette Blount has a new best friend!

Analysis: I know I’m not the only one who appreciates the fact that Martin is Blount’s replacement. Doug Martin, from Boise State—the school Blount originally earned his reputation as a head case against. I’m sure those two will enjoy spending time in running back drills together.

Anyway, Martin is the consensus No. 2 halfback in the NFL Draft. He has been drawing comparisons to the Baltimore Ravens’ Ray Rice. Tampa Bay failed in their attempt to trade up for Trent Richardson so Martin was the next best option to fill their crater of a hole in the backfield.
