NFL Draft Results: Indianapolis Colts Catch Peyton Manning-Successor in Andrew Luck
And the torch has been passed.
With the first pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts selected Andrew Luck out of Stanford.
Instant Reaction: Gasp! What a shocking selection! Everyone’s mock drafts are screwed now!
Analysis: This pick has been a no-brainer since the Colts cut Peyton Manning. Scratch that—it’s been a no-brainer since they locked up the draft’s No. 1 pick.
Luck is the most talented QB prospect since John Elway. Any other decision would’ve gone down as one of the biggest blunders in the history of sports.
If Luck fulfills his potential—and with his unrivaled intelligence and phenomenal work ethic he should—Indianapolis will contend for a Super Bowl within the next few years. And their dominance won’t halt for another decade.
Colts fans aren’t used to seeing their team draft so early, but with Luck, they won’t have to get used to it.
