United States international Timmy Chandler signed a contract extension with his club team, FC Nuremberg, on Wednesday.

The new deal keeps Chandler with the Bundesliga side until the summer of 2015.

Chandler has scored one goal and provided two assists while making 28 appearances for Nuremberg this season.

While U.S. national team fans will know him as primarily an outside defender, Chandler lines up as a wide midfielder for his club.

Chandler joined Nuremberg in the summer of 2010 and made his first team debut in January 2011 during a league match against Borussia Monchengladbach.

Just two months after his club debut, Chandler earned his first cap for the United States when he came on in the second half of a friendly against Argentina.

Since those beginnings, Chandler has blossomed into a stalwart at club level and assured himself of certain inclusion in U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann's plans for the country's World Cup qualifying campaign when it begins this summer.

Chandler will be in action next when his team travel to Hoffenheim on Saturday.

With two matches left to be played in the Bundesliga season, Nuremberg sit safely clear of the relegation zone at 11th place in the table.
