Now that the dust has settled on the Matt Holliday trade it is time to watch the rest unfold. As part of the deal the Rockies acquired 23 year old Carlos Gonzalez, which may turn out to be a real steal for the Rockies.
Gonzalez hit .242 with four home runs and 26 RBI with the Oakland Athletics in his first major league season. While Gonzalez will have to compete for a roster spot, which isn't a lock, but if he gets his swing tuned up and shows a bit more discipline look for him to have a breakout year in 2009.
During Winter Ball in Venezuela, Gonzalez posted a .292 average and has a proven ability to produce runs with 26 RBI in 25 games.
While in the Arizona Diamondbacks farm system Gonzalez was touted as one of not he best outfield prospect around.
For Rockies fans let's hope we get to watch that come to fruition in front of our eyes.
