Vitali Klitschko Says Purse Split Not an Issue

EJ ClaudioCorrespondent IJanuary 26, 2009

Vitali Klitschko is setting a good example to all the boxers out there whose egos are probably bigger than the continent of Asia.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Vitali Klitschko mentioned that he would offer a 50/50 split with Nikolai Valuev just to make the fight happen. What's important to him is to win the belt and unify the division with his brother, Wladimir.

Vitali Klitschko was quoted saying, "Around the world, fans and experts want to see this fight, but these promoters are doing everything to make sure that this fight doesn't go ahead."

That holds true. Nikolai Valuev, a very nice person but an awful boxer, is being protected by his promoters. They know that as soon as Valuev steps up the competition, he'll get destroyed by either Klitschko.

Vitali Klitschko has earned my respect for that statement. Every boxer should follow his lead so that the best fights can be made.
