A sold out crowd at the Bell Centre in Montreal roared when Alexei Kovalev scored the winning goal in the shootout for the Eastern Conference.

Not only did he score the winning goal, but he also scored two goals in regulation and was awarded the game's MVP, fulfilling his pre-game guarantee.

"I knew how important it would be for all of us, not just for me, to succeed and put on a show and have fun," said Kovalev. "You couldn't ask for more."

"When I heard that I'd been named as the captain of the team, I said to myself I have one more left to get MVP. I think that's going to be the full package that I'm going to remember the rest of my life."

This was the third All-Star Game for Kovalev. I'm sure he won't be forgetting this one anytime soon.

The final score was 12-11 for the Eastern Conference.

The Montreal Canadiens will be playing on Tuesday night against the Tampa Bay lightning and the Florida Panthers on Thursday.
