Mac Danzig defeated Efrain Escudero via unanimous decision on the UFC 145 undercard in what was a gutsy performance from The Ultimate Fighter Season 6 winner.

Early in the first round, Escudero caught Danzig in a heel-hook and, while Danzig was able to escape, the submission took its toll.

Danzig's ankle was noticeably swollen for the rest of the fight, but he managed to tough it out and win the fight using superior boxing and clinch work.

What we'll remember about this fight

Danzig soldiering through the bout, despite his jacked-up ankle.

It looked like he had a golf ball growing out of his foot, but Danzig was still moving as if there was nothing wrong. It was an admirable performance.

What we learned about Efrain Escudero

He's not a UFC caliber lightweight.

Escudero has already been released from the promotion once, and since coming back he's gone 0-2.

What we learned about Mac Danzig

Not much we didn't already know.

We saw that Danzig is well-rounded and comfortable in all areas, but we've seen that before.

Danzig did show some pretty impressive mental toughness in ignoring his injury. That, we hadn't seen before.

What's next for Efrain Escudero

Whatever's next for Escudero, it probably won't involve fighting in the UFC.

What's next for Mac Danzig

The loser of Tony Ferguson vs. Michael Johnson would make sense.
