New York Yankees: Are 1912 Fenway Park Anniversary Throwbacks One of Worst?

0 of 10

Throwback Uniforms are worn by teams during special occasions as a means of honoring the history of the franchise.

For the most part, teams do a good job when it comes to selecting jerseys, and they look great wearing the old-school uniforms. However, there are times when the teams just look foolish out on the field in their throwback garb.

The New York Yankees have announced that they will wear throwbacks for the 100-year anniversary of Fenway Park when they play the Boston Red Sox. It is rare to see the Yankees deviate from their regular uniform.

Fans will certainly have their opinion on these throwbacks, and some will think they are great while others don't rank them.

While it will be a little odd to see the New York Yankees in anything other than the classic uniforms that they have worn for years, these throwbacks are not bad at all.

These certainly are not anywhere near the top of the list when it comes to coolest throwbacks, but the Yankees will look pretty good when they wear these.

9) Cleveland Indians

This Cleveland Indians throwback uniform looks like something that would be given to a Little League team. They seem very dated at this point, and they were last worn in the mid-1980s.

These uniforms certainly did not look as good as the Indians thought they did.

8) Washington Nationals

Sometimes less is not more. The Washington Nationals found that out when they wore 1936 Washington Senators throwbacks in 2011.

The jerseys are very plain, and without the "W" logo on the arm it would be impossible to know which team the throwbacks were honoring.

7) Boston Red Sox

4 of 10

The Boston Red Sox decided to do something special in 2011 when they met the Chicago Cubs for the first time since the 1918 World Series. Both teams wore throwback jerseys from that season.

Boston's uniform was about as simple as it can get. It was all white without much decoration. David Ortiz even noted that he did not like the uniforms.

6) Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs have worn a number of different uniforms over the years, and many of them keep it simple and classy.

This uniform just looks silly with the red stripe underlining the word "Chicago." It looks like a big frown on the jersey, which is something that Cubs fans have also been showing, since they have not won a World Series in over 100 years.

5) Boston Red Sox

6 of 10

Since the Boston Red Sox are one of the oldest franchises in baseball, they have a large number of throwback uniforms to choose from.

They should have selected something besides this monstrosity, which the Red Sox originally wore in 1908.

4) Baltimore Orioles

7 of 10

The Baltimore Orioles absolutely nailed the highlighter look with these throwback uniforms.

There is one redeeming quality that keeps these uniforms from being the worst on the list. They feature the old-school cartoon Oriole logo on their cap.

3) San Diego Padres

8 of 10

Yellow and brown is not a good color combination, so it is mind-blowing that the San Diego Padres wore these uniforms for so many years.

It's even more surprising that the team decided to bring them back. However, the team has made a number of questionable uniform choices over the years, so this could have been expected.

2) San Diego Padres

As bad as the yellow-and-brown color combination is when yellow is the primary color, it is even worse when the main color is brown.

The only good thing about these San Diego Padres throwback uniforms is that they are not being worn anymore.

1) Houston Astros

10 of 10

It is hard to understand what possessed the Houston Astros to wear these throwback uniforms.

The uniforms have no redeeming qualities, and they just look ridiculous. This is made even worse by the fact that the Astros are wearing their modern logo on their batting helmets, which doesn't match the throwbacks at all.
