Unlike the matchup between The Rock and John Cena, which was made on the night after WrestleMania 27, the WWE has held their cards close on who will headline next year’s event in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Following this year's WrestleMania, there were rumors of The Rock returning to the ring to challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE championship, CM Punk taking on Stone Cold Steve Austin and John Cena attempting to break the streak of The Undertaker.

With rumors of potential matches floating around the internet, what are the WWE's actual plans for next year's WrestleMania?

From the Wrestling Observer Newsletter at F4WOnline.com (via WrestlingInc.com):

It's said that with the success of WrestleMania 28 coming out this past week, the chances of a rematch between John Cena and The Rock at WrestleMania 29 have increased. As of this week, WrestleMania 29 is scheduled to be headlined by The Rock vs. either Cena or Brock Lesnar.

Even though it was a good match, I think the WWE should avoid Rock-Cena II at WrestleMania 29. The company has had enough rematches over the past few years at WrestleMania.

Instead, a matchup of The Rock taking on Brock Lesnar in the main event would be a much better bout for WrestleMania 29 due to the star power of the duo. It would also be billed as a rematch from SummerSlam 2002.

That being said, I would be firmly against the idea of this match taking place for the WWE championship. The title should be defended between superstars that work a full-time schedule with the company.

In the end, the WWE could very well surpass the numbers they achieved from WrestleMania 28 with a main event between The Rock and Brock Lesnar, as opposed to John Cena, in the shadow of New York City next April.

With the WWE having two potentially great matches to decide between for the main event of WrestleMania 29, would you like to see The Rock take on John Cena again or face Brock Lesnar at MetLife Stadium?
