There is no time to waste, planning WrestleMania 29 now is a must!
OK, let's not get carried away. But it is nice to think about what can happen next year. There are already tons of rumors out there and if they come to pass, this show in New York-New Jersey could be the most spectacular event ever in the history of professional wrestling—sorry—sports entertainment.
How about this for rumors:
- The Undertaker vs. John Cena
- Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. CM Punk
- The Rock vs. Brock Lesnar
Now, insert the WWE championship (or Undisputed title come 2013) and you have yourself an extremely important match no matter who out of these is picked.
This is main-event-caliber stuff. There are other options like Stone Cold vs. Randy Orton or Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar. Both are just as magnificent as the ones mentioned above. Anytime you can mix some old with some new it allows the possibility of something simply amazing.
WrestleMania XXVIII is already shattering records with its one-million-plus buys. It's not every day The Rock returns and defeats John Cena on the grandest stage of them all. There has been so much hype for this show and the matches themselves that night were pretty good, some excellent.
Judging from readers' feedback, it was a great show, which led to everyone wanting more and anticipating something great next year.
The 29th edition will probably be just as extravagant if not better. Having Brock Lesnar return is but a step in the right direction.
If a big show like this is to be successful, the other matches also have to have some interesting features to them.
A sample mid-card for next April's show could be as follows:
- Money in the Bank ladder match
- Beth Phoenix vs. Kharma - Divas championship (finally!)
- Rey Mysterio vs. Sin Cara
- Mick Foley or some other legend vs. The Miz, Dolph Ziggler or Cody Rhodes (Legend vs. Future)
- Intercontinental and Tag Team championship matches
- The guest celebrity and his-her opponent?
At this point in time it is all rumor, but WWE is not stupid, it is la creme de la creme of the pro wrestling world, so the officials already have an idea of what they want. Everyone else is just along for the ride.
This company lives by a moniker—bigger, better, badder. In order to stay afloat and surpass all others, it must constantly outdo itself every time and with all the resources at their disposal, the sky is the limit.
What in the world can Vince McMahon have planned for WrestleMania 30? Since 30 is XXX in Roman numerals, maybe it would be high time to bring in a well-deserving Chyna into the Hall of Fame.
In writing this first, I brought up matches but what also adds some spice to the grand spectacle is the HOF inductees. There are some names still waiting to get in and that is also worth noting. Randy Savage is the top name on my list—Let's go WWE!
When thinking about it, last year's show was where it all began. This planning a year ahead thing started when The Rock returned in 2011. Anyone who has intelligence could have seen it and it is snowballing now. Put all other pay per views aside, WrestleMania will get bigger every year. For sure until the 30th one is in the books.
This is far from over and I get goosebumps just thinking about it. Now is the time to start watching WWE if you don't.
I'd like to keep on thinking no one has seen anything yet. Kind of keeps me interested in watching every single Raw and SmackDown come April 7, 2013.
