How will Erik Bedard perform in 2009? Will he be having a Cy Young award worthy season like he did in 2007? Can he rebound from injuries and show the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim who is really going to dominate the AL West? Yes he can.
The pressure was high for Bedard in 2008, I wouldn't be surprised if Bedard and Felix Hernandez had some tension over the number one spot in the talented rotation.
A rotation with the potential of three maybe four Cy Young award winners? How many teams can say they have that? Try none other than the Seattle Mariners.
If Erik Bedard has a bounce back 2009 season I expect it to be big, such as my prediction of 3.07 ERA, 18-3 and 198 strikeouts. Yes, I think that Erik Bedard can dominate the league that much.
But what if Erik Bedard does better knowing he has the best defense in the league behind him? If the defense does their part including catching and Bedard has it all right from the neck up I think he will most definitely win the Cy Young award. The numbers predicted my me if he does all that is 2.86 ERA, 19-2 and 206 strikeouts.
Those numbers are not all made up either, if you look at how he dominates at home I think the Mariners will try and have him play as many games as he can at home.
I have high expectations for all of the Mariners this season, I believe that if the Mariners can work as one unit they can become an unstoppable force no one has seen since Napoleon Bonaparte died.
Here is my projected rotation and stats:
Sp. Felix Hernandez 2.97 ERA 17-3 and 204 strikeouts
Sp. Erik Bedard 3.07 ERA 18-3 and 198 strikeouts
Sp. Brandon Morrow 3.92 ERA 13-5 and 157 strikeouts
Sp. Ryan Rowland-Smith 3.16 ERA 15-6 and 149 strikeouts
Sp. Jarrod Washburn 4.29 ERA 11-9 and 138 strikeouts
Sp. Carlos Silva 4.36 ERA 12-5 and 133 strikeouts
Expect a nice and healthy season from Erik Bedard, Felix Hernandez and the rest of the Seattle Mariners potentially filled team.
