Dave's College Basketball Picks, Jan. 24: Texas A&M and Texas

Mark Turgeon is still trying to figure out what kind of team he has. He’s asked his team to toughen up and is trying to figure out why they start out slow in so many games. A&M is coming off a road loss to Kansas and needs to get it going pretty fast or post season hopes will be gone soon.

Texas is also searching for an identity, specifically on offense. A recent change to an offense more conducive to slashing down the lane worked well against Texas Tech in a 71-49 victory. The idea is to free up the guards and seems to have worked. Part of the change involves Abrams switch to the point which he is very capable of. Abrams is just 3 three pointers away from Jeff Boschees Big Twelve record.

Texas A&M is 5-7 ATS including 2-2 on the road
Texas A&M is 6-3-1 ATS in its last 10 match ups with Texas
Texas is 7-7 ATS including 4-5 at home

Texas is the better team on paper, but Texas Tech aside, plays a lot of close games. I think Texas A&M makes this one a battle.

Dave’s Pick: Texas A&M +13
