There are certain teams no one wants to face in the NBA playoffs. At any point.
Sure, energy teams like the Philadelphia 76ers or Denver Nuggets could cause momentary trouble with the right first-round matchup. But they don’t have the fire power to sustain a deep run.
The Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks are hot at the moment. Yet the Clippers sink fast against veteran teams in the clutch, and the Knicks are too banged up to do more than one round of damage.
The Dallas Mavericks and Orlando Magic have been playoff powers before, but the Mavs don’t have the heart and the Magic don’t have the Howard. (Dwight has two weeks to mend his pride…I mean, back.)
Finally, no one questions whether the Atlanta Hawks are a pretty good team, but do they strike fear in the hearts of any opponent?
With those pretenders out of the running, Bleacher Report’s Joel C. Cordes evaluates which teams are the most dangerous heading into the NBA playoffs.
