Hull City have set a new club record fee of £5 million for Jimmy Bullard. The deal is a four-and-a-half-year contract at the KC Stadium.

Hull's boss Phil Brown said on the clubs official website. "We're trying to improve a squad that has been competing in the Premier League and that just needed a bit of bolstering,"

Brown feels it is a statement of intent by the club that Hull City are here to stay in the Premiership.

Brown went on to say, "I think this signing shows everybody just how serious Paul Duffen (Hull City Chairman), Phil Brown and Hull City are with regards to this year's Premier League.

"Jimmy is a good player, end of story."
