Giuseppe Rossi: Out for 6 Months After Tearing ACL Again
Italian forward Giuseppe Rossi has re-injured his right knee, according to ESPN Soccernet, and will be off the pitch for at least six months. It is the second time in about six months that he has torn his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
Back in October, Rossi went down with the injury in a match against Real Madrid and had surgery to repair his knee back to health. Then, in a Villarreal training session this past weekend, Rossi re-aggravated the injury and this time will face more serious consequences before returning to the pitch.
After another operation to his right knee, the Azzurri forward will miss the rest of this season as well as the beginning of next season.
Last season, Rossi found good form and scored 32 goals for Villarreal.
The injury has dashed the 25-year-old's desire to participate in the 2012 Euro championship this upcoming summer.
