Weber Laughs at Head Smash to Zetterberg, Slap on the Wrist from NHL

Nashville Predators defenseman Shea Weber was joking about a play, in which he smashed Detroit Red Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg's head into the boards and mocked it with forward Andrei Kostitsyn. The jokes amused their teammates.

They wouldn't have been laughing if he was suspended.

The NHL is a joke for not suspending him. There was obvious intent to injure. The league has mandated and emphasized a crackdown on shots to the head this season and this clearly was a shot to the head (two actually).

Weber is a repeat offender and the NHL has also emphasized that repeat offenders will be dealt with more severely.

Weber is one of, if not the best, players for Nashville.

The Predators are a team in a new market that have won only one playoff series in their existence, I am sure Gary Bettman would love for them to have some success to help create a better market there. Detroit is the antithesis to Bettman's parity being the most and always successful team in the league since he has been commissioner.

The slap on the wrist Weber received from the NHL reeks of favoritism, and I believe Brendan Shanahan's decision was influenced from above.
