Over the years The Ohio State University has put many players into the NFL at almost every position. This year the Buckeyes lost a heart breaker in the 2009 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl to Texas.
Even though we lost, we still had a team full of talent and phenomenal seniors. This year the Buckeyes have several former players entering the 2009 NFL Draft, and I am going to rank the Top Five!
5. Brian Robiskie
At No. 5 I have the top Wide Receiver out of Ohio State this year Brian Robiskie. He is a versatile WR with a great set of hands. He is quick, fast, tall, and makes big time plays when the ball is thrown to him. Brian is not a big husky kind of receiver like a Calvin Johnson or Brandon Marshall, he is skinny but strong and makes acrobatic catches.
Robiskie reminds me of a Joe Horn combined with Isaac Bruce. He can be a solid fourth or third wide receiver straight out of the draft with a learning mentality that could make him a star after a few years experience. His dad Terry Robiskie is the Falcons Wide Receivers coach who taught him a lot, and his teachings could help him with the NFL game!
4. Todd Boeckman
At No. 4 I'm gonna go with QB Todd Boeckman. Even though Boeckman got the starting job taken from him his senior year, he still managed to get the Buckeyes to a National Championship the year before, which they lost, but he still showed leadership and intensity throughout his collegiate career.
Todd has a very strong arm and knows the game well from the quarterback position. He could seriously be an impact on a team who needs a good backup and could prove himself in the league and be a starter. His arm is the kind of arm that NFL teams look at, he sees the field well and should have played more in the Fiesta Bowl. In my opinion he will be a second to fourth round pick that will turn out to be a steal.
3. James Laurinaitis
At No. 3 The Animal Jr. ,James Laurinaitis. I know a lot of people believe he should be No. 2 or maybe even one, but you guys need to realize something, he is undersized. i love this guy, he hits like bricks, and never gives up.
I think he'll be a great LB in the NFL but like I said the only thing that hurts his draft stock is the fact that he is undersized. I think he is the No. 3 Linebacker in the draft behind Aaron Curry out of Wake Forrest and Rey Maualuga out of USC.
He makes tackles from sideline to sideline and everything in between and has won many collegiate awards including the Butkus Award. Watch for him to be a first round or early second round pick!
2. Chris "Beanie" Wells
Beanie Wells...enough said! Now again a lot of people may disagree with me and think he should be number 1, and I can see what you guys are saying and trust me it was hard to put him at No. 2, but he is very very injury prone. Beanie is the best RB in the draft hands down, he is big, fast, and breaks many many many tackles. The guy hurdles over DB's like they're hurdles in High School Track.
Like I said though he has been injured so many times, that he decided to skip his senior year with a chance for a Heisman, so he could be healthy for the NFL. He will be a top 10 pick for sure!
1. Malcolm Jenkins
Finally at No. 1 corner back Malcolm Jenkins. He is the best Corner in the draft. Malcolm is the biggest CB I have seen in a long time 6'1" 201 lbs. This guys is a play maker and a game changer, he hits hard and has great hands to make some picks. His coverage is outstanding, a lot of teams in the NFL could use a good solid CB like him. Jenkins is the real deal! Top five pick for sure.
