The 10 Best Dressed Men in Major League Baseball

When you consider sports' most fashionable, Major League Baseball definitely doesn't spring to mind. In terms of fashionable athletes, it's usually the NBA and superstars like Dwyane Wade and LeBron James that land on the "best dressed" lists. 

But that's not to say that nobody in MLB has a standout sense of style and a few red carpet-ready looks stashed in their closet. Obviously, there are exceptions to every rule, and while it might not be the standard, MLB definitely has at least a handful of sharp-dressed men. 

Here are the 10 best dressed men in Major League Baseball. 

10. Curtis Granderson, New York Yankees

Yankees center fielder Curtis Granderson might not have the star power that some of his teammates enjoy, but he obviously understands the value of dressing for the job you want rather than the job you have.

Granderson's effortless urban style hasn't gone unnoticed in the Big Apple. In 2011, he was named the new face of Akoo clothing, which was launched in 2008 by rap superstar T.I.

9. David Ortiz, Boston Red Sox

It sure doesn't seem that much has been going right recently for the Red Sox, with offseason controversy, clubhouse conflict, inconsistent play and the ongoing questions about the Bobby Valentine hire.

Times may be tough, but at least they've still got Mr. Reliable in David Ortiz. Big Papi is good for about 30 home runs, and off-the-field, he is guaranteed to show up decked out in Boss Threads and enough bling to stop traffic on Rodeo Drive. 

8. Theo Epstein, Chicago Cubs

The Cubs' President of Baseball Operations, Theo Epstein, is the only non-player to make the list—unsurprising, considering baseball isn't exactly known for its snappy dressers. Actually in late 2011, the league was forced to roll out a new dress code for the slovenly media. 

Maybe Epstein always had a great sense of style, or maybe he developed it after he was hired to be the general manager of the Red Sox in 2002—making him the youngest GM in the history of the game. Either way, Epstein has definitely broken the mold. 

7. David Wright, New York Mets

Mets superstar David Wright is definitely a favorite among the ladies. Sure he's a talented athlete, but his all-American boyish good looks and megawatt smile are often the only reason to sit through a Mets game. 

Wright's pulled-together style is usually pretty casual—dress shirts (no ties), sweaters and jeans—but it's still polished. And when he has to dress it up a bit for a bit event, he usually knocks it out of the park. (See what I did there?)

6. Alex Rodriguez, New York Yankees

You probably aren't Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez's biggest fan—nobody is. In fact, it's quite possible that A-Rod, who has been one of the best in the game for over a decade, doesn't actually have a single fan. 

Well, even if that's the case, he certainly doesn't let that get him down. Whether he's traveling for a game, out on the town or being featured in a magazine, A-Rod is always dressed to impress and never has even a single hair out of place. 

5. Matt Kemp, L.A. Dodgers

It's no accident that 50 percent of the men on this list play in New York or Los Angeles. Maybe fashionable players are attracted to these fashion capitals, or maybe they just fall in line when they get there. 

Let's put the chicken or the egg question aside, because it's not important how Matt Kemp got to be the most uniquely fashionable men in sports. Let's just appreciate his can't-miss looks, which were flashy enough to attract R&B superstar Rihanna. 

4. Evan Longoria, Tampa Bay Rays

There aren't many guys in MLB hotter than the Rays' Evan Longoria right now—at least in terms of media buzz. Not only has he been performing on the field, but off the field, Longoria has attracted attention for thrill-seeking stunts, as well as his relationship with Playboy Playmate Jaime Edmondson. 

It doesn't really matter what he's doing, he always manages to look like he's stepped right off the pages of GQ. Although, maybe that's because sometimes he actually has. Last year, Longoria was featured in a high-fashion spread in Men's Journal. 

3. Ryan Braun, Milwaukee Brewers

Reigning National League MVP Ryan Braun hasn't been making headlines for his fashion ventures in recent years; it seems he has other baseball related matters on his mind these days. Probably for the best, because his Ed Hardy ripoff line of T-shirts left a little to be desired. 

Braun wouldn't have made any best-dressed lists a few years ago, but he has definitely shifted to a more sophisticated style since then. His every day style leans more towards casual, but Braun can definitely crank it up when the occasion requires. 

2. Cole Hamels, Philadelphia Phillies

Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels almost always looks like a million bucks—that's a completely undisputed fact. Although, it's not entirely clear who is responsible for his pitch perfect style. 

Maybe Hamels just has an eye for fashion and can dress himself better than most men. But it's likely (at least partially) the work of his gorgeous and fashionable wife, Heidi. 

1. Derek Jeter, New York Yankees

Yankees legend Derek Jeter is just the gold standard for fashion in baseball. Jeter has been featured on the cover of GQ more than once, and he looks just as at home on the red carpet as he does on the field at Yankee Stadium. 

Obviously, Jeter's style hasn't hurt him with the ladies either. He's been linked to some of the most beautiful women in the world, some of them fashion divas in their own right.
