I can remember quite a few years ago listening to a radio interview with Bob Knight, the IU coach at that time. He simply said the core of his coaching philosophy was that all coaches have the same tools, playbook, players, but that being more demanding of players is the one way he could get more out of them.
Everyone knows he is a demanding coach and of course his history of issues has led to Knight being disliked by many who basically think he's a big bully. The one aspect of coach Knight that is not very public is how much he has done for players over the years. Most who played for him will only speak about the positive influence he has had on them.
One thing for sure, he knows basketball. And it will be very interesting to see how he does in his new role as ESPN College Basketball Analyst just in time for the NCAA Tournament. And this should be one of the most competitive 65 team tournaments we have seen. It surely would be interesting to see the Hoosiers make a miracle run in the wake of their coach resigning amidst a potentially scandalous situation for the I.U. Basketball Program.
