It's a battle of first vs. second in the German Bundesliga as Bayern Munich travel to Dortmund to try and claim the overall lead in the title race.

The ramifications of this match could be huge for either team's chances at Germany's top prize, with the winner to take lead at the top of the table.

Dortmund currently sit two points ahead of Bayern on the table, yet they have an inferior goal average for the season compared to the German giants.

Their run of form in the league is simply incredible, unbeaten since mid-September 2011, where they went down on the road to Hannover 96 in the final minute of play. Therefore, Bayern Munich, despite being the bigger name of the two, will certainly have their work cut out for them if they are to steal the points in this one.

Top of the tables don't get much bigger than this one, and everything you need to know and more is right here. So with that, let's roll.

Where: Westfalenstadion

When: Wednesday, 11th April at 2PM ET

Key question: Can Borussia Dortmund be beaten?

It may sound obvious, but it really is the key question for both sides heading in to this one, as Dortmund have simply been unstoppable at home all season. As mentioned above, they haven't been beaten since mid-September last year—with their last loss coming 23 games ago.

Dortmund beat Bayern last time around 1-0, and despite the apparent strength of the visitors' attack, their form away from home this season has been nowhere near the dominance they display at home.

On the road this season, Bayern are scoring less than half the number of goals they do at home and conceding twice as many at the same time. They've been held scoreless in 21 percent of their away matches and while this number might not be high, for a side boasting the likes of Mario Gomez, Ayern Robben and Frank Ribery, that number simply isn't good enough.

Dortmund's ability to just keep moving along and winning football matches has been simply the story of the season and despite not boasting the offensive or defensive capabilities of Bayern, they will certainly enter this match as the deserved favorites and the team to beat.

Three key numbers

25. Mario Gomez has found the back of the net 25 times for Bayern this season, accounting for over a third of Bayern Munich's total goals. He will know the importance of this match for his team's season, so expect him to deliver a huge performance for the visitors and cause trouble for the Dortmund back four all night.

0. That's the number of times Dortmund have failed to score at home this season, registering the score sheet in every single one of their matches there this year. Bayern may well be the best defensive team statistically speaking in the competition, but stopping the likes of Lewandowski and Kagawa will certainly be no easy feat for the Bayern defense.

17. Dortmund have conceded 17 goals in the second half this season as opposed to just five in the first half, so one expects that Bayern will be a real handful after the break for the hosts. If the away side can keep in touch with them until the interval, they may be a real nightmare in the second half and could well do the unthinkable and end the Dortmund streak.

Prediction: Bayern Munich win 2-1

This is arguably the biggest week for Bayern Munich all year as they take on Real Madrid later in the week as well as this top-of-the-table clash against Dortmund. They'll no doubt have prepared well mentally all week, so expect them to be switched on early against the hosts.

Dortmund have been impregnable early this season, but they don't boast the strongest attacking unit in the league, so if the Bayern defense can keep Dortmund scoreless until the break, they could very well be in with a fighting chance.

I expect the Champions League hopefuls to explode in the second half and put two quick goals on the hosts before allowing one against the break with 10 minutes to play. That will set us up for the most exhilarating few minutes of Bundesliga play this season. But ultimately, Bayern will show their superior class and skill and come away with the win.

Goals to come to Ribery, Gomez for Bayern and Gotze for Dortmund as Bayern take the lead in the title race and take a huge step towards another Bundesliga title.
