NEW YORK -- Ross Detwiler pitched five scoreless innings, and the Washington Nationals beat New York 6-2 on Tuesday, handing the Mets their first loss of the season on the same night they learned David Wright had broken a finger.
Detwiler (1-0), a surprise addition to the back of the Nationals, allowed two hits, struck out six and walked one.
