Gophers Establish Memorial Fund

The University of Minnesota has responded to the tragic, untimely death of former Gopher Gary Tinsley by establishing a memorial fund in the late linebacker's honor.

Tinsley, 22, was found dead in his campus apartment last Friday of still-undetermined causes, only two weeks away from receiving his degree. The Gophers announced in a statement Tuesday that the athletics department had established the Gary Tinsley Memorial Fund to help cover funeral expenses and travel costs for Gopher teammates traveling to Florida to attend the service.

"It's a very, very sad day for our football program and for our young men," Gopher head coach Jerry Kill said Friday. "We lost one of ours today in Gary Tinsley, who I know is in a good place."...
