Gonzaga (12-4, 3-0) travels to Pepperdine (4-15, 1-2) on Thursday for another WCC bout.
The Zags are 34-31 all-time against the Waves, winning the last 14 games and 29 of the last 34. The last loss to Pepperdine was in 2002.
Here is the quick 35-second run down of what to expect.
Pepperdine starts four freshmen and one sophomore. They are an inexperienced team and will continue to struggle against teams such as Gonzaga and St. Mary’s.
Anticipate another great game from Gonzaga player, Austin Daye. Daye is averaging 22.5 points in his last two games. Although this is an away game for the Zags, Daye will find many familiar faces in the crowd as he travels to his home state of California.
Keion Bell and Mychel Thompson combined for 31 of Pepperdine’s 46 points in their last game's loss to St. Mary’s. These two make the bulk of their teams offense, so shutting them down could prove problematic for the Waves.
Expect Gonzaga’s defense to prove problematic for Pepperdine. The Zags are ranked 4th in the nation in Defensive Field-Goal Percentage at 36.6 percent, and Pepperdine is only shooting 39 percent as a team.
Overall, Gonzaga should have little problem with Pepperdine. However, as past experience has shown, the Zags are vulnerable if they overlook even the weakest of opponents.
