"The weather in Allentown was frigid. Although it was not much warmer inside, the hockey was red hot. It’s been over five years since ‘Berg shut out an opponent. Goalie David Emerson ended that with a scintillating effort sending the University of Scranton back to the Poconos with a big League loss. The defensive corps, lead by Seniors Robbie Janowitz and Craig Marone, Sophomores Will Behrns, Mike McClellan, and Freshman Kit Mathers and Ivan Asplundh, were outstanding. The forwards also offered a huge effort to help shut out the Royals.

Muhlenberg’s first goal came on a power play by Geoff Kelleman, with assists going to Robbie Janowitz and Cody McKinney. The second goal came on a slapshot by Kit Mathers, with the lone assist going to Mike Williams.

Emerson finished stopping all 34 Scranton shots."

Indeed, the Muhlenberg Mules played a dominant game, shutting out Scranton 2-0 to remain undefeated in conference play.

As the Muhlenberg fan club held up their sign, "Scranton Royally Sucks," the Mules rode the momentum of a record attendance to another conference win, this time over the top team in the standings.  Although still technically in fourth place, Muhlenberg is the only undefeated team left, almost undisputedly the top team.

David Emerson played like a man possessed, stopping every single shot he faced, ultimately winning the player of the game award, as voted on by the 'Berg players.

The Muhlenberg bench was constantly active, with changes being made, while the Scranton bench seemed quiet for the duration, not doing much to help out their team, who just could not seem to get past the box plus-one executed by the Mules.

They face CW Post, the second place team, in a home and home series this weekend, Friday and Saturday night.
