On Monday Night Raw, John Laurinaitis announced the date of the anticipated match between John Cena and Brock Lesnar. The match will take place later this month at WWE Extreme Rules on April 29th. It will be just over nine years since the two last faced each other at Backlash.
Luckily there will not be another year of waiting before the two men meet in a match. A quick match at the end of the month means that there will not be a long, drawn-out conclusion to this feud.
After a year-long wait before Cena took on The Rock at WrestleMania 28, the WWE decided to get this match done and over relatively quick. After Lesnar gave Cena an F5 last week, the two squared off in the ring again on the latest Raw.
Cena told Lesnar that he never got to thank him for the previous week and slapped him across the face, which prompted Lesnar to take Cena to the ground. While the two were on the ground, it seemed as though every WWE wrestler came from backstage to separate the two.
Cena seemed to get the worst of the altercation, leaving the ring with a badly gashed lip.
It was a relief to not have to wait around for weeks or even months for the first fists to fly.
In a few weeks this feud will be settled, and it will become more apparent where each of these guys will be headed in the months to come.
