One of the nation's top linebackers has passed over the Seminoles and has chosen to play his college ball in Athens with the University of Georgia.
The Snellville, Georgia linebacker had offers from several ACC and SEC teams, as well as Michigan and Central Florida, but had recently narrowed his choices down to Florida State, Georgia and South Carolina. On Monday he made it official and announced that he had committed to UGA for its 2013 recruiting class.
“Reggie loves the coaching staff at Georgia and he feels comfortable there,” said South Gwinnett coach, John Small. “It’s close to home so all of his family can come see him play, it’s an in-state school, and I just think he feels at home there.”
The Noles already have some committed talent at the linebacker position for the next February's class with Orlando's Ro'derrick Hoskins and Tyrell Lyons from Jacksonville, but were also pressing hard for Carter.
