More Phillies Inklings: Notable Signings, Minor League Contracts and Free Agents

B MacCorrespondent IJanuary 21, 2009

I was checking Fox to see if the Philadelphia Phillies had released the details to OF/ Utility Jayson Werth's new contract. What I found was some notable signing by the Phillies.

Greg "The Natural" Dobbs: the clutch left-handed utility ballplayer, was signed to a three-year deal avoiding arbitration.

Tadahito Iguchi, the second baseman picked up prior to the Phillies playoff run, signed a deal to play for Chiba Lotte Marines, a team in Japan.

Pablo Ozuna, Third Baseman was sign on 1/15/2009 to a minor league contract

Marcus Giles, the 30 year old second baseman was signed on 1/15/2009 to a minor league contract

On 12/11/2008 the Phillies re-signed Mop-up man, RHP Clay Condrey and right-handed utility, Eric Bruntlett.

EDIT: Today (1/21/2009) as of 6:30 p.m., the Philadelphia Phillies have signed 6th and 7th inning specialist, Chad "New Deal" Durbin to a one year deal, successfully avoiding arbitration

Rumors are also abound that the Phillies are interested in free-agent aces, Ben Sheets and Jake Peavy. As well as free-agent pitchers, Andy Pettitte and Juan Cruz.
