Video: Northwestern Linemen Engage in Thrilling Punt-Catching Contest

Northwestern gets it.

They understand that at some point a lineman will have a chance at making a play in an actual game, and they have decided to take the proper precautions. Well, either that or they really just enjoy a good laugh following practice, which is also just fine by us as long as they continue to record it.

After a recent Wildcats practice, coach Pat Fitzgerald set up the ol’ JUGS machine and had the linemen each test their luck at fielding punts.

The results are exactly what you’d expect when placing large men in unfamiliar situations, although it does appear that there are a handful of former non-linemen who have an understanding for this exercise in the group. I’m not so sure about the rest of them, though.

I think Northwestern just stumbled upon the best overtime solution yet.
